A Bohemist and translator, she studied Bohemistics at the Humboldt University of Berlin and Charles University in Prague, subsequently graduating with a thesis on the topic The Image of Germans in Czech Prose after 1945. As deputy director of the Czech Centre Berlin, she is responsible for the centre’s cultural programme, primarily in the areas of literature, film and Bohemistics. She translates contemporary prose and writing on subjects of literature, art and history. Her translations have been published in books and magazines. She regularly moderates author’s readings and discussions at book fairs, film and literary festivals, and other events.
