Vratislav Maňák (b. 1988) is a Czech writer, journalist and literary historian who teaches journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences. He debuted as a writer with the short story collection Šaty z igelitu [Polythene Clothes], for which he won the Jiří Orten Prize in 2012. He has been shortlisted for a Magnesia Litera award (for the grotesque fairy tale Muž z hodin [A Man of Hours]) and for the European Union Prize for Literature (for the novel Rubikova kostka [Rubik’s Cube]). His work operates on the border between fiction and creative non-fiction; it explores issues of intimacy, historical memory, and conditions of existence in the Central European space.
