How can we engage a younger generation of readers, and what role do authors, publishers and libraries play in this? In Germany, one in four children is not read to by their parents, and one in five people struggle to read continuous text. What is the situation in Czechia and other European countries? Iva Procházková, Astrid Böhmisch and Vojtěch Matocha will discuss how writing for children and young readerships is approached today, which themes resonate in today’s Czech literature, and how reading habits are changing. The conversation will also focus on the promotion of reading, the work of libraries, and new ways to foster young people’s relationship with books and nurture future generations of readers.
