Discover Czech books through touch at Dialogmuseum, where Tactus.cz is showcasing Braille and other tactile
books. Tactile illustrations, Braille script and various other materials demonstrate how creative inclusive
reading can be and how books can open up the world of literature to everyone.
What is it like to experience a book not by looking at its pictures, but by discovery with our fingertips? To mark
Czechia’s presence at the fair as guest of honour, Dialogmuseum and the Czech association Tactus.cz present
an exceptional selection of Braille and tactile books. Braille script, tactile illustrations, and a wide range of
shapes, surfaces and materials give blind and partially sighted people access to stories, images and knowledge.
They may also encourage sighted visitors to step away from their usual ways of perception and read with a new
perspective. This compact exhibition explores the work and mission of Tactus.cz to demonstrate how creativity,
books and inclusion can intertwine. It presents an aspect of Czech book culture that can be felt as well as seen,
and which serves to highlight the importance of participation and diverse ways of reading.
