Can writing fiction be a full-fledged, sustainable profession, or is it a precarious balancing act? What is a writer’s material and social reality? Successful members of a writing community will discuss practical aspects of writing, including conflicts between creative work and everyday life, the unavailability of targeted support and the need for it, and difficulties in navigating the world of publishers. The pros and cons of possible changes will be considered, as will inspirational models of good practice in other countries.
