Kateřina Tučková’s award-winning novel Gerta, first published in 2009, addresses themes of hybrid identity, forced displacement, and trauma passed from one generation to the next. It has recently been adapted for television as Gerta Schnirch. The author and representatives of ARTE and Czech Television will discuss the significance of what happens to Gerta for our past, present and future, focusing on a woman’s perspective in a story that moves between instrumentalization and taboo.
