Social insecurity in today’s world has become a live issue for contemporary Czech fiction. It addresses changes in the labour market, job insecurity and the phenomenon of working poverty. Miřenka Čechová, Petr Šesták and Anna Beata Háblová create characters who live in unstable conditions that lack social guarantees. Work has ceased to be a source of identity and dignity and become a tool for survival.
