Since 2019, the historic wine town of Mikulov has run a programme of literary residencies attended by many award-winning Czech, German and Austrian authors. Writer Petr Šesták, the initiator of the programme, will be in discussion with participants Dora Kaprálová (novelist), Rhea Krčmářová (Austrian writer of Czech origin) and Petr Borkovec (poet, novelist, translator) about the importance of residencies for them and how the environment in which they work may influence the writing process and its results. They will also discuss how the active presence of writers is reflected in the cultural and community life of the town and its residents, and how this influences the image and perception of Mikulov in the media and from the outside.
