Eva Lustigová, daughter of the Czech-Jewish writer Arnošt Lustig, and Jindřich Mann, author and grandson of Heinrich Mann, speak with Wolfgang Schwarz (cultural officer for the Czech lands at the Adalbert Stifter Society) about their contributions to the book My Journey to Our Germans 2: More Czech Stories, which was published in German in 2025 and in Czech in 2026 . They will discuss family influences and their own identities, as well as the literary and human legacy of Arnošt Lustig, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year. The title of the event is a quote from Lustig’s work.
Jaroslav Rudiš, a writer well-known and well-liked in both Germany and the Czech Republic, will read short extracts from the works of Arnošt Lustig and Jindřich Mann.
