TO THE SEA! is a new platform launched by the Czech Centres for presentation abroad of contemporary Czech poetry by the younger generation. It is based on a curated selection of authors that favours authenticity in their work, the topicality of their themes, crossovers into other genres and media, and their potential for engagement with international cultural networks. Its aims are to support the creative process, networking and long-term international collaboration and to foster international engagement, particularly with regard to the position of poetry in today’s world, in terms of both aesthetics and social engagement.
Presentation of the project will be followed by a moderated discussion with one of its curators and the editor of a new German-language anthology of contemporary Czech poetry. The discussion will focus on current poetics, themes and interdisciplinarity, as well as on ways to open up new international opportunities for the younger generation of poets.
