A performative voyage through the cultural and literary manifestations of a Czech seaside, its archipelagos, lagoons and endless horizons. Who succumbs to its spell will lose the way home forever… and turn into a happy water nymph. We sail from the phantasmagorical kingdom “between the Adriatic and the Baltic” and Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, through reconciliation with Čapek’s salamanders, to Ingeborg Bachmann’s productive nostalgia and Milan Kundera’s impossibility of return. Who knows what else may drift into our path? Above all, this is a celebration of bohemian spirit, cabaret and imagination, and a warm encouragement to anyone who lacks a sense of home in their homeland, and perhaps therefore finds refuge, or runs aground, in literature.
