Bianca Bellová (b. 1970) lives in Prague. She makes her living as a translator and interpreter. Her debut novel Sentimentální román (Sentimental Novel; reissued by Host in 2018) was published in 2009, followed by Mrtvý muž (Dead Man; 2011) and Celý den se nic nestane (Nothing Happens All Day; 2013). Her novel Jezero (The Lake; 2016) won the Magnesia Litera Book of the Year Award and the EU Prize for Literature, and the publication rights have been sold to 22 countries. Bellová’s novel Mona was published in 2019 and won the Czech Book Award. The author’s short story collection Tyhle fragmenty (These Fragments) came out in 2021, her novel Ostrov (The Island) in 2022 and, short story collection Transfer in 2023 and the novel Neviditelný muž (The Invisible Man) in 2024. Her last book is another short story collection titled Dvaadvacet fragmentů (22 Fragments). Bellová also regularly contributes to magazines and short story collections with short fiction, essays and interviews.
