Johanna Posset (b. 1964) is a translator and interpreter. In 1990, she completed her Master’s degree in Czech Studies and Linguistics in Vienna and Prague (with a thesis on samizdat magazines in Czech). Since 1990, she has worked in Vienna as a freelance translator and interpreter, mainly in the fields of economics, law, art history and literature (prose and drama). Her translations include works by Bohumila Grögerová and Josef Hiršal (the memoir Let let – Im Flug der Jahre [As the Years Fly By]), Markéta Hejkalová (Der Zauberer aus Peking [The Magician of Beijing]), Jiří Kratochvil (Brünner Erzählungen [Brno Tales]), Josef Škvorecký, Michal Viewegh, and Monika Zgustová (the biography of Bohumil Hrabal Im Paradiesgarten der bitteren Früchte [In a Garden of Paradise with Bitter Fruit]) and others. From 1992 to 2020, Johanna Posset taught Czech and German as foreign languages at universities in Vienna.
