
Veronika Siska (b. 1976) grew up in Munich. After studying French Language and Culture at the Sorbonne and German and Slavonic Studies in Munich and Prague, she worked for many years as an encyclopaedia editor. She has worked as an editor and translator since 2000. Her translations into German include works by Michal Ajvaz, Bianca Bellová and Iva Pekárková.
Veronika has been involved in cultural mediation since 2019. With Julia Miesenböck, she edited a Czech-themed issue of the magazine Lichtungen (2019, no. 157). Since 2020, she and Michael Stavarič have curated the series Tschechische Literatur zu Gast [Guest: Czech Literature], which is part of the Hausacher LeseLenz festival. In 2022, she initiated in Munich the reading series Junge weibliche Stimmen aus Tschechien [Young Female Voices from Czechia], and in 2023, the series Sense of Place: Besondere Texte an besonderen Orten [Sense of Place: Special Texts in Special Places] with Hana Hadas. In 2024, she founded Allee Verlag, a publishing house for European literature in German translation.
