
Tereza Matějčková (b. 1984) is a Czech philosopher, journalist and university teacher. She studied Humanities and Social Sciences at the Anglo-American University in Prague from 2002 to 2007 and Philosophy and Religiology at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University from 2007 to 2012. She was awarded a Ph.D. in Philosophy in 2016; her thesis was entitled Grund der Welt in Hegels Phänomenologie des Geistes. Having worked in the Department of Philosophy of Charles University’s Faculty of Arts as an assistant professor, she was appointed associate professor in July 2023. Matějčková has worked with Czech media outlets at various points in her teaching career. She became a member of the editorial board of Filosofický časopis [Philosophical Journal] and has worked with the publishing house ΟΙΚΟΥΜΕΝΗ. She also reviews books and films and translates from German and English.
She publishes essays on cultural and social issues in the magazine Týdeník Echo. She also makes occasional television appearances to discuss philosophy and a philosophical view of current events in society. Pravda neexistuje? [Doesn’t Trust Exist?], a podcast on philosophy hosted by Tereza Matějčková, is in its fourth year.
