Karel Osoha (b. 1991) studied in the Film and Television Graphics Studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. He is now a leading comic book author, having come to readers’ attention for the webcomic Plíč [Lung] and his contributions to the fan-made comics anthologies Vějíř [The Fan] and Bubblegun [Bubblegun]. For the comic book Češi 1948: Jak se KSČ chopila moci [Czechs 1948: How the Communist Party Seized Power] (2016), he won the 2017 Muriel Award for Best Drawing. He was later nominated in the same category for the comic book trilogy Návrat Krále Šumavy [Return of the King of the Bohemian Forest]. Most recently, Osoha won the award for his work on the comic book series Prašina: Kroniky: Křídový panáček [DustZone: Chronicles: The Chalk Figure]. His illustrations for DustZone and the first part of the Return of the King of the Bohemian Forest trilogy also earned him a nomination for a Czech Grand Design award.
In addition to his illustrations and comics, Osoha works as a storyboard artist; he has collaborated with Václav Kadrnka on the feature films Křižáček [The Little Crusader], Zpráva o záchraně mrtvého [A Report on the Rescue of a Dead Man] and Panna Sofia [The Virgin Sophia], and with Vojtěch Mašek on his feature debut Arvéd.
