Petr Hruška, one of Czechia’s leading poets, and his translator Martina Lisa present Und ich sah mein Gesicht, the German edition of Hruška’s latest collection of poetry. The book addresses the first circumnavigation of the world, led 500 years ago by Magellan. Inspired by Antonio Pigafetta, who was on the expedition and recorded his experiences in a travelogue, Hruška creates a fictional, poetic voyage that reflects on the colonial context of this historic journey. Martina Lisa’s German translation will be introduced at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
