Contemporary Czech fiction often depicts a world on the brink of collapse, in which basic social structures and interpersonal relationships are disintegrating. Kristina Hamplová, Petra Hůlová and Martin Vopěnka each depict crises of identity, power and communication in their own way. Dystopia here does not only function as a warning, but also as a mirror of the present. The trio of authors will present their prose with an emphasis on feelings of alienation and loss of certainty in a globalized world.
