One writes Czech stories, the other presents them to foreign readerships. What obstacles must a Czech book overcome before it finds readers abroad? A book is about more than its text. How far does its visual form – cover, typography, illustrations, photographs – inform our first impression and feed our expectations? Sometimes, by opening just one book, we open the door on an entire country and its culture.
