
Štěpánka Jislová (b. 1992) is a Czech illustrator and comic book artist. She studied at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň. Her short story Strom [Tree] won the 2013 CZ.KOMIKS student competition. Her work has appeared in numerous anthologies published at home (e.g. AARGH!, Caves, BubbleGun, XEROX) and abroad (e.g. Bobla, Dirty Diamonds, CBA). She is a co-founder of the Czech branch of Laydeez Do Comics, an organization that promotes women in her chosen field. Her graphic novel Srdcovka [Heartcore] received the Muriel Award for Best Comic Book and Best Script, as well as the Czech Comics Academy Award; it has been translated into more than ten languages. Her latest published comic book (with writer Michael Žantovský) is Hrátky s čertem [Dancing with the Devil], which depicts the most challenging period of Václav Havel’s life.
