
Stanislav Setinský (b. 1985) is a Czech illustrator, graphic artist and teacher. He studied Illustration and Graphic Design under Juraj Horváth at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM). In 2012, he studied at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, a stay he later drew upon in his illustrated guidebook To je Jeruzalém [This Is Jerusalem] (2019).
Works with Setinský’s illustrations for the Baobab publishing house include short stories by Etgar Keret and adventure novels by František Tichý. He is the author of several comics with historical themes, such as Tady to smrdí jako čert [It Stinks Like Hell in Here] from the collection Odsunuté děti [Displaced Children], which explores the fates of Sudeten German children displaced from Czechoslovakia after World War II. The comic book Idealista [The Idealist], based on a script by Marek Toman, is his longest comic to date.
In addition to visual art, Setinský enjoys music; he plays bass guitar in the punk band Kočkolit. He has taught book design and illustration at the Náhorní secondary school in Prague (DUKE) since 2019. He is married and has a son.
