Czech Literature in the German-speaking Media in June

As the Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Czechia and its literature are in the spotlight of the German-language media throughout the year. Here, we would like to present a selection of articles on Czech literature that have been published recently.

Radka Denemarková’s “Schokoladenblut” was widely talked about: It was reviewed by Süddeutsche Zeitung, radio3, Die Presse and Der Standard. The author was also a guest on Bücher Podcast by Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The novel was also featured on ORF2.

We were thrilled that Dora Kaprálová won the European Union’s Prize for Literature. Börsenblatt and Publishing Perspectives, among others, covered the story.

Deutschlandfunk Kultur aired a feature on comic book author Stepanka Jislová.

The MDR-Podcast „Unter Büchern“ featured Marek Torčík’s “Was die Zeit nicht nimmt.”

Frankfurter Rundschau published a detailed review of Petr Šesták’s “Ausgebrannt.”

Die Presse traveled with Jaroslav Rudiš through his homeland.

A lovely report on our press trip to Bohemia has been posted on the YouTube channel BuchGeschichten.

Sächsische Zeitung reported on the 75 authors we’ll be bringing to Frankfurt.

There was also coverage of the Czech Republic’s appearance at the LiteraTurm Festival in Frankfurt: for example, in Frankfurter Rundschau, frankfurt.de or frankfurt-live.com.
