In 2023–24, the European Council of Literary Translators’ Associations (CEATL) conducted two surveys among its member organisations and individual translators to assess the impact of generative AI on their profession. As the field continues to evolve, new data are needed to provide an up-to-date picture and support the interests of literary translators. Conducted in collaboration with the Open University of Catalonia and the University of Zagreb, this research offers new insights into literary translation in Europe and AI’s impact on the profession. The project at Charles University’s Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship (https://www.ff.cuni.cz/veda-vyzkum/humanaid/) draws on a 2026 survey of 140 publishing professionals and examines AI use in editorial work, marketing, sales and customer engagement.
