From the poem as text to the poem as event: poetry emerging from the interplay of space, voice and body, in relation to the audience and a specific situation. The performative dimension transforms not only the way a poem is presented, but also its creation, rhythm, composition and use of language. Poetry extends beyond the traditional medium of the printed book and enters club and digital infrastructures, soundtracks, video loops, social media or poetry machines in public spaces. It draws closer to music, theatre, the visual arts and science, emerging at the intersection of these fields. What matters is immediacy, shared presence and an awareness of the audience, which is no longer merely the recipient of a finished text but can become part of its meaning. The boundaries between author, performer, curator and audience are becoming increasingly permeable.
