On 20 May 2026, a reading with Marie Iljašenko took place at the renowned Austrian Society for Literature in Vienna to mark the German publication of her poetry collection Menschen hören überhaupt nur sehr wenig. The evening was hosted by literary scholar Ursula Ebel, with Julia Miesenböck interpreting the discussion and also reciting selected poems in German translation.
The discussion centred on the creation of the poetry collection, individual poems, and the city as a habitat for animals that we often fail to notice. The conversation also touched on Czech and Ukrainian poetic traditions, as well as the challenges involved in translating poetry. Some texts were also recited in their original Czech.
