
Magda Garguláková (b. 1982) is a graduate in Art History from the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University, Brno. She is a curator and production manager at the OFF/FORMAT art gallery in Brno. Having worked in marketing for a while, she switched careers to focus on books, which she has loved since childhood. She works with the Albatros publishing house and its international editorial department, for which she mostly writes and edits educational picture books for children. She has written over a dozen books, which have been translated into several world languages. Her book Ruka – kompletní průvodce [The Hand: A Complete Guide] was nominated for a Magnesia Litera and included in a list of 100 outstanding books at the 2022 Bologna Book Fair. Her highly successful book Mosty [Bridges] is for older child readers; it won the Zlatá stuha [Golden Ribbon] award for Jakub Bachorík’s illustrations as well as receiving the Openbook Award in Taiwan.
Garguláková lives in Brno with her husband and two daughters.
