
Magdaléna Platzová (b. 1972) earned a degree in Philosophy before working as a journalist and editor for periodicals including Literární noviny and Respekt. Having made her literary debut in 2003, she has published ten books, including the novels Aaronův skok [Aaron’s Leap] (2006), Anarchista [The Attempt] (2014) and Život po Kafkovi [Life After Kafka] (2022); the latter was nominated for a Magnesia Litera. She is a regular contributor to Czech Radio and the monthly magazine Host. Her fiction has been translated into more than ten languages. Her latest book, the collection of short stories Fáze jedné ženy [The Phases of One Woman], was also nominated for a Magnesia Litera. She currently lives in Lyon, France.
