
Zofia Bałdyga (b. 1987, Warsaw) is a poet, translator and social worker. She has published five collections of poetry in Polish: Passe-partout (2006), Współgłoski (2010), Kto kupi tak małe kraje (2017), Klimat kontynentalny (2021), and Nauka oddychania (2025). In 2023, Poslední cestopisy [Last Travelogues], her first collection written in Czech, was published by Fra; it went on to be nominated for the Magnesia Litera for Poetry. She graduated in Southern and Western Slavonic Studies from the University of Warsaw, and in Social Work from the Protestant Theological Faculty of Prague’s Charles University. Bałdyga translates contemporary Czech and Slovak poetry into Polish; her translations include Obcházení ostrova [Walking around an Island] by Milan Děžinský, Inventura [Inventory] by Kamil Bouška, Z periférií [From the Peripheries] by Jana Bodnárová, and the anthologies Sousedky – 10 českých básnířek [Neighbours – 10 Czech Female Poets] and Sousedky – 10 slovenských básnířek [Neighbours – 10 Slovak Female Poets]. In 2021, she was awarded the Literatura na Świecie prize for emerging translators. In in her profession, she works as a social counsellor for migrants.
